Starting on September 21st businesses will invite their customers to contribute Change for Charity.
In order to allow time for set-up and to learn about the program, Localight will follow this monthly schedule:
All your donors will be able to donate to your organizations with the Localight app and earn 2% as points to shop local. Nonprofit only pays a 1% transaction fee to Localight. 3% in total, which is similar to normal payment processing fees. Many of the Foundation's donors pay by check and they now can pay with the Localight app, then receive points back to spend in the our local communities.
On September 21st the general public will be invited to use the Localight app. Starting in late August private groups of consumers will be invited to use it.
Each business chooses a nonprofit to recommend, and their customers will be prompted to donate their change within the app. If the purchase price is $50.25 the donation would be 75¢.
Customers will be able to start earning points on September 21st, 2021, and start spending them when they've earned at least 5,000 points. When customers earn points they can use them at any Localight business. Points are paid out at 100%, meaning that you will receive 100% of the money for items purchased with points.
